GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  FLSA:  Hourly  

Supports District schools and principals in their effort to foster an optimal educational environment for students. Provide students and staff with a clean and safe enviroment which to learn and develop, while ensuring building and system longevity through proper maintenance and care; supervise building custodial staff.

 

MAJOR TASKS:

  • Performs custodial, grounds, minor repairs, and routine maintenance as needed.
  • Confers with teachers and administrators and provides necessary maintenance repairs to building.
  • Reports need for major repairs to Facilities & Construction department and manages work orders.
  • Develops and maintains a preventative maintenance program for the building and carries it out.
  • Provides work instructions and methods, trains and orients building custodians.
  • Orders, receives, and checks equipment and supplies.
  • Performs maintenance on HVAC equipment, i.e. motors, belts, filters.
  • Keeps accurate records of supplies and maintenance of equipment.
  • Prepares work schedules and issues assignments to custodians.
  • Maintains supply inventories.
  • Reads all job related information.
  • Understands and applies safety-related precautions as outline in MSDS.
  • Relates to public, staff and students in a positive manner.
  • Supervises building custodians.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by building Principal and/ or Director of Facilities & Construction.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to relate to public, staff and students in a positive manner.
  • Two or five years experience in custodial services.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding and/or training in all major construction trades, i.e. plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting and irrigation systems.
  • Ability to lift and manipulate materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to operate job-related equipment.
