Description

Supports District schools and principals in their effort to foster an optimal educational environment for students. Provide maintenance, custodial and grounds services at the assigned school site.  Maintain flexibility for service in all areas.  This position will be responsible to perform duties in the maintenance, custodial and grounds areas throughout the year.

 

Notifies principal of serious building usage problems.

Acts as Plant Manager in his/her absence.

Checks exit lights.

Refills dispensers.

Maintains facilities to keep them presentable (interior and exterior).

Arranges equipment for activities as requested.

Cleans all assigned classrooms, workrooms, halls, bathrooms and entryways as required.

Cleans chalkboard weekly or as needed.

Cleans and polishes water fountains in assigned areas.

Reports needed repairs and maintenance in writing to Plant Manager, Principal and/or Director of Facilities & Construction.

Checks custodial calendar for activities and plans accordingly.

 

High school graduate or the equivalent .

Ability to generate and maintain maintenance and repair records. 

Be able to set a good example for students in behavior, attitude and appearance.

Have knowledge of first aid practices.

Demonstrate experience and knowledge of safety and health requirements related to custodial maintenance and groundskeeping areas.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
