GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: FLSA: Exempt
Supports District schools and principals in their effort to foster an optimal educational environment for students. Perform a variety of psycho diagnostic and counseling services to assist students, staff, teachers and parents.
MAJOR TASKS:
- Provide direct psychological services to students.
- Is involved in individual, group, and family counseling.
- Develops behavior management plans.
- Uses psychological therapies.
- Serves as an agent from educational and/or personal change.
- Identifies remediation needs.
- Administers psycho educational assessments.
- Performs individual evaluations.
- Monitors the evaluation process of referred students.
- Communicates results of the assessments to teachers, counselors, administrators, and parents.
- Responsible for assuring paperwork is in compliance and meets State and Federal timelines.
- Insures psychological services.
- Assists in the development of specialized procedures.
- Participates in determining to whom services will be offered.
- Participates in the selection and implementation of intervention techniques and materials.
- Assists with the implementation of psychological services.
- Provides for follow up of recommended services.
- Serves as a liaison to the community and its agencies.
- Communicates frequently with community and state agencies.
- Communicates on a regular basis with other professionals.
- Interacts with mental health professionals, community and state agencies that are serving a child or family.
- Coordinates psychological evaluations with outside resources.
- Provides inservice training.
- Offers consultative services through formal and informal interactions with students, teachers, counselors, parents, and administrators.
- Develops and implements inservice programs to meet identified school needs.
- Advocates protection of students’ and civil rights.
- Consults with parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators.
- Responds to requests to discuss problematic areas of a student’s functioning.
- Gathers information from various sources as is necessary to understand the situation.
- Interacts with individuals in developing problem-solving processes and techniques.
- Designs and utilizes psychological research.
- Conducts applied and theoretical research.
- Interprets research results and explains implications of current research findings.
- Makes Programming recommendations based upon appropriate research.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal relationships with the students and adults.
- Demonstrates responsible conduct.
- Performs other job duties and accepts additional responsibilities as assigned by Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters Degree from an accredited college or university plus two years of additional graduate work in education and psychology. (Doctorate Preferred).
- Have Arizona School Psychologist’s Certificate.
- Have experience in planning, implementing, and supervising Special Education Programs.
- Show effective interpersonal and communication skills.
