GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:     FLSA:  Hourly      

Supports District schools and principals in their effort to foster an optimal educational environment for students. Performs duties as assigned by the classroom teacher.  Provides assistance to teachers.

 

MAJOR TASKS:

•     Assists the teacher in maintaining the physical environment of the classroom

        and  playground.
•     Maintains interpersonal environment that:

  •        provides warmth and affections to all children equally
  •        fosters self-esteem, respect for others, and independence
  •        provides for individual differences and abilities

•     Assists teacher in caring out daily activities.

•     Establishes good communication / relationship with parents
•     Participates in self and school evaluations.
•     Helps supervise children during play activities meeting their needs for

       attention, guidance and safety.

•     If last staff member on duty, responsible for leaving center clean, materials

        put away and rooms locked.
•     If  last staff member on duty, responsible for staying with any child not

       picked up on time, calling parents or emergency pick-up person.
•     Reports to Preschool Teacher / Coordinator.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

•    High school graduate or equivalent.
•    Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
